Foreign trained PT perusing IL PTA license

Postby SuperStar » Sun Jun 24, 2012 12:22 am

Dear All,

I am a foreign trained PT (master's degree in PT). I went through FCCPT IL credentials eval and was not eligible for the Boards Exam due to the courses deficiencies. I decided to try to obtain IL PTA license first.
I was trying to look up for information regarding that in the IL department of prof. regulation and FCCPT. There is no clear answer what the procedure would be. As I figuered I have to do PTA educational equivalency review which uses a different tool than PT eval. And then the procedure would be the same as for the PT license.

Has anyone ever tried this process and how was it?

There is also the agency called IERF that does PTA educational equivalency reviews for the IL applicants. It is listed as an approved agency in FSBPT website however IL dep. of prof. reg. never heard about it... Any comments, exeperiences...

Please... Thank you!

Not sure about PTA rules, but for PT license IL only accepts IERF if you use the CWT from FCCPT (so you're in the same boat either way). To make up the credits you need for FCCPT: If you are lacking “ General credits” you can make these up through CLEP - http://clep. collegeboard. org/ If you need professional credits you need to make these up through a University level program. There is a program offered online based in the Philippines through an organization called Philippine Rehab Institute. http:// www.prifnet. com/credentialingprograms. html you can email them for more information on availability and pricing. Note: For inquiries regarding credentialing, please e-mail pricredent@gmail.com . This course can still be done if you are not in the Philippines. ( I have to put spaces in because it won't let me post links, so just delete the spaces when you copy them.)

Kinia87- What do you need to know about CLEP? It is used to make up general credits for credentialing. :) Let me know what type of info you need. The website is CLEP - http://clep.collegeboard.org/

Hope that helps--Steph
