Walking boot (moon boot) tips

Postby Justsamantha05 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 11:03 pm

Hey everyone I broke my ankle on both sides about 9 weeks ago after being in soft cast then a hard cast after surgery they put me in a moon boot. I've been wearing the moon boot for about 3 weeks now at first i couldnt walk at all on it but now i'm doing a walk limp kinda thing. The reason for this post is to get tips from anyone else who has had to wear one of these things. I find it hard to use because the sole on the moon boot is higher than my other normal shoe. Plus my "bad" foot cant bend right yet so i have to wobble around. Any tips on how to make walking in this thing easier?

They are not nice to walk in. You may trying to find a pair of shoes with an elevated sole so that you can be equal in standing. You may request to see a PT in your area to get some sort of temp heel lift in the uninvolved shoe. Hope this helps. You will still have a limp though...
