my entire back hurts

Postby rume » Wed Aug 30, 2006 12:11 pm

I've been doing PT for over 6 weeks now, just stretching, there is very little progress my entire back hurts! my shoulders ache all way down to crack of my butt. my hips hurt in the front and even up into my chest. I have alot of nerve like pain going down one leg. When I go to therpy I see different people never same person day after day seems they are lost trying to find where Im at with stretching. I hurt so bad after pt pushed down on my lower back I couldnt sleep at all last night. Im really getting depressed about the pain Im having. Seems my hips are not staying in adjustment something in lower back. Is there anything I can do at home between these visits to make pain go away. Ive tried walking for an hour all that did was leave me limping home. I think I live with ice pack down my pants. Thank you in advance for any advice.

6 weeks with no releaf makes a frustrated patient for sure. I don't know about you, but I usually tell people that they should feel results after 3-5 treatments and if you are at 6 weeks I would definately be trying something else... go back to your Dr. for some further diagnostic testing is always a good place to start!

BTW - have you discussed your frustration and lack of seeing the same therapist with your clinic?

Just some ideas for you!

it is bad for you to have pain in back. Nowadays many meet the SI joint pain.
I hope this article will share something to help you know about the treatment. Maybe you can find something good :)

Way too long to not see results and not seeing the same PT is not, in my opinion, optimal for recovery. Unfortunately not all PT's are equal. I would suggest you call around and find a PT who has some advanced training. I would look for things like an OCS (Orthopedic Certified Specialist), someone who is certified in manual therapy (CMT, or FOAAMPT), or has completed either a residency in Orthopedics or a fellowship in the same. Let them know you want to see that PT on a consistent basis. The difference may be dramatic.

Out of curiosity how did you choose your current PT facility? - Jeff
