PLEASE HELP!!

Postby Klambes » Wed Jul 19, 2006 6:09 pm

Hi,
About a month and a half ago I woke up with what I thought was extreme neck stiffness from possibly sleeping incorrectly. I thought it would eventually go away. After a month and the pain getting increasingly worse, I decided to go to the emergency room. I currently have no health coverage so that was really my only option. Needless to say it took 3 trips in 3 days for them to preform an MRI and CT scan on my neck. They found 2 bulging disks I believe in C5-6 (I could be wrong but I'm 90%) sure. They prescribed me methylprednisolone 6 day pack and some narcotic pain killers. They referred me to a neurosurgeon as well. I took the medication as prescribed and called the neurosurgeon but unfortunately could not in any way afford the fee's. I know that there are things that I can do at home to help this pain I am having. My left arm is somewhat numb and there is a lot of tingling in my left thumb. It does seem to be getting better very very slowly without me doing much but I was wondering if I should be doing stretching or exercising or anything like that at home. Should I be wearing a neck brace or collar? I also heard walking may help and I have a treadmill so I was wondering if that's something that would benefit me. Anything you can tell me to help without actually going to a Dr (I just can't afford it) would help me tremendously.
Thanks for your time in reading this long post
:)

a solution to your problem
i guess you really need to consult a registered physiatrist. to see and evaluate your neck, you might be suffering A DJD in your cervical area. i really could not give you some treatment here, but as a remedy, u sould wear a collar brace, to immobilized your neck for the meantime. you felt numbness and tingling sensation on your fingers due to a nerve compression, on your brachial plexus where your shoulder, arm, forearm , hand , nerves are located. hope to hear from you... :D

get some health coverage

Hello,
You may be able to qualify for medical assistance type health coverage. You can call the business office of a local hospital and they should be able to direct you how to apply. Then you could see a doctor and/or PT. Good Luck
